Iconically located just a few steps away from the ancient Baiame’s Ngunnhu (Brewarrina Fish Traps), the Brewarrina Aboriginal Cultural Museum should be the first stop on any visit to Brewarrina.
The museum offers visitors the opportunity to experience First Nation culture, country and history firsthand from local people, in the very spot where local tribes have gathered for tens of thousands of years.
In the ancient tradition of storytelling the Ngemba, Ualarai, Weilwan and Baranbinja people trace the footsteps of their ancestors, sharing stories that many thought long forgotten. The unique complex in purpose-built gunyahs house a history of Aboriginal people and their traditions in this area as well as offering Aboriginal art and craft for sale.
